remove tailwind css and go back to good old bootstrap. Would be good for big projects but not this one I think #collector

👍 – I've been trying out Tailwind recently and it looks quite interesting. Do you use it for everything?

This is my first time using it just to get some sort of dopamine hit when building a standard rails app. Think the idea is cool but way too early to tell. How you getting on with it ?

@andrewc I've only used it briefly so far. I like how you can rapidly prototype a bunch of stuff, without needing to worry about classnames, specific pixel counts, and switching files.

I do wonder about visual consistency when the codebase gets larger. Sure, Tailwind has presets for colors and sizes, but you might still (accidentally) vary between gray-200 and gray-300, or a small border-radius versus a medium. Whereas with my current approach I use re-usable SASS mixins to keep those things consistent across different components.

But yeah, just different trade-offs. Overall, Tailwind might have the better trade-offs for many use cases. I'll definitely keep exploring it.

I was reading about this and I guess the nice thing is you can still set the defaults in css using @apply. Below is what they showed in the documentation.

I've actually removed it from this project now, as its slower for me than bootstrap with a simple project like this that doesn't require to much customisation. For example the alert in tailwind involves a lot of classes yet in bootstrap its just one if you're happy with their defaults.

I guess I got over excited about tailwind for the wrong project/ time in the project.
