fuck facebook

Word of mouth and through friends. Hang around Twitter and there's always someone looking for a dev for some quick jobs.

HackerNews has a thread every month where 800+ people post "We need help with X" (who's hiring)

Great source of high quality leads.

@swizec How do I find this monthly thread on HackerNews? I am not a frequent visitor to HN so I might be missing something obvious.

@Ashfame it's published by a bot on every 1st of the month. Something like this: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=…

I found that starting blogging has been a big source for freelance gigs, just did a few quick posts (see www.stephenson.dk), got them proofread by Wordy.com and shared on my own personal social accounts. I get inbounds every time I post a new blog post.
